Gazi University is one of the few universities whose history dates back to the 1920s. The university has faculties of Education, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Science, Nursing, Engineering and Architecture, Health Sciences, Sport Sciences, Technology and Applied Sciences. With its 50 thousand students and more than 4000 academic staff the university is close to the world average in terms of the number of students per instructor.

Gazi University Project Coordination Implementation and Research Center serves coordination and consultancy in international platforms through coordinating with academic and administrative units of the university. Gazi University Project Coordination Implementation and Research Center help the university to benefit from EU grants at most level and to coordinate of projects with the full time employees.Tasks of the Project Coordination Implementation and Research Center; to promote EU Education and Youth Programmes at the University, to arrange informational conferences about these programmes, to make necessary organizations and to inform administrative and academic units and students etc.

Gazi University Faculty of Medicine is one of the prominent medical faculties in Turkey. Gazi University Faculty of Medicine has been providing education in two languages in two separate programs, Turkish and English. Gazi University Training and Application Hospital has an in-service training coordination office for healthcare personnel. Through this office health protection and improvement training programs are organized. Training activities for patients and patient relatives are also conducted.

The Department of Public Health at the Gazi University Faculty of Medicine was established in 1980. Undergraduate education of public health specialists, doctoral education in public and occupational health in addition to training in demographic epidemiology of accidents have been provided since the establishment of the department. Each year, approximately 15 research studies are conducted on the health status of society, risk factors and disease prevention. Findings of these are reported nationally and internationally. Especially studies on raising health awareness in society patients by creating solutions are prioritized. In addition to national and international projects, conferences, congresses, and symposiums are organized. The Department of Public Health at the Gazi University Faculty of Medicine conducted several studies in the fields of disease prevention, risk factors and health status of society.
