East Mediterranean Transitional Zone Agricultural Research of Institute

Eastern Mediterranean Transition Zone Agricultural Research Institute, with its 30 years of experience, carries out agricultural research projects in cooperation with the private sector and public institutions, both nationally and regionally, and delivers the results of these to agricultural producers. It is a research institute that develops cultivation techniques while protecting the environment and biodiversity and constantly improving itself.

The main fields of activity of the Research Institute are;

  • In the field of soil and water resources; soil and water pollution, land planning, multi-elemental analysis methods in soil, soil fertility and plant nutrition,
  • In the field of Field Crops; Breeding and breeding techniques of high quality, disease resistant and highly productive varieties with high adaptability in wheat, cotton, chickpea, dried beans, medicinal and aromatic plants and sugar beet,
  • In the field of Horticulture; Breeding of high-quality, disease-resistant and high-yielding varieties with high adaptability in pepper, walnut, olive, fig and grape, cultivation technique,
  • In the field of Agricultural Economics; rural sociology, farmer behavior, rural education, rural women, agricultural policy and agribusiness,
  • In the field of Plant Protection; nematodes, weeds, diseases and pests, environmental effects of pesticide use and raising awareness of producers, etc.

 

It conducts research with its expert staff in its fields of activity. In these fields of activity, it contributes to agricultural production and science with 120 completed, 30 ongoing projects, and 22 variety registrations. The target audience of the results of the research carried out by the Research Institute are agricultural producers. Among agricultural producers, young farmers, rural women and disadvantaged agricultural regions are considered as priority groups.
